Capricorn

January 5, 2008

The day of longest darkness, December 21, is celebrated all over the northern hemisphere. This is the first day of Capricorn (December 21 – January 19), the day the sun stands still at it’s southern most moment of it’s yearly journey. This is the day of the winter solstice, a day marking the return of the light. Capricorn is therefore an ultimate sign. The sun can only travel north now. Capricorn must go to the top of the mountain.

Sagittarius

December 1, 2007

Sagittarius, fast and fiery, is the happiest and luckiest sign of the zodiac. Those fortunate enough to be born under the sign of the archer (November 21 – December 21) are the world’s optimists, travelers, philosophers, teachers, and athletes. Sagittarians are generous, fair-minded, adventuresome, and friendly.

Scorpio

November 1, 2007

As the days continue to shorten, the sun moves into the sign of the scorpion on October 23rd and stays there 30 days each year. Scorpio is the most intense, passionate, penetrating and ruthless sign of all. It’s rough, following on the heels of sweet Libra, but as Cinderella can attest to, there comes a time when reality must be faced. Now is that time. Leaves fall, reminding us that physical death is the end of the journey here of all living things.

Libra

October 8, 2007

At the Fall Equinox on September 23, night and day are equal. Briefly, there is balance, then the scales tip once again. Days begin to shorten; the time for plants to grow is over. Symbolically, the time for working on me and my stuff is also over.

Virgo

September 1, 2007

Days are shortening now and the crops have ripened. The harvest month of September is ruled by the virgin goddess, Virgo (August 23 – Sept 22). Her gifts of discrimination and efficiency are of top importance now. It is vital that the crops be picked at the right time. That’s why the Full Moon closest to Sept. 22, the Harvest Moon, is the biggest of all, giving light for the laborers working in the fields at night.

Leo

August 1, 2007

In late July, the fiery Lion begins his rule, warming and brightening our hemisphere. The Sun is his lord and Leo shines accordingly, lighting up the zodiac. The Lion’s days are July 23 – August 22. Leo is the second sign of fire. The fly wheel initiating fires of Aries have consolidated into the fixed fire of Leo. When you compare the power of the Sun with anything else in our Solar System, you see why Leo is considered by most astrologers to be the most powerful of the signs.

Cancer

July 1, 2007

The year’s longest day, the first day of summer, is the opening day of Cancer, the Crab. In Cancer (June 21 - July 22) we enter the emotional realm of the first water sign. This is the sign of the mother who nurtures and protects new, vulnerable life. The fourth sign, the sign at the bottom of the circle, is the realm of our ancestors, our roots. This powerful, angular sign addresses the importance of home, family, and comfortable surroundings. Cancer is our mother land and, of course, our Mother Earth.

Gemini

June 1, 2007

Day and night, black and white; good and bad, happy and sad. This is a peek inside of Gemini, the first sign of mind. Gemini (May 20 – June 20) is the first air sign, where thought is born. As thought enters mind, it splits in two giving us the dual universe we inhabit. Making sense of this world is the job of Gemini, the sign of duality, the Twins.
