Gemini
June 1, 2009
“June is busting out all over, ” and good because the month of the light-hearted Twins is backed by a positive skywatch this year. After a month or more of fogginess and delays, there are green lights in the heavens.
Gemini (May 20 – June 20) is a youthful and curious energy, the first human sign, the first sign of mind. Gemini is the sign of early childhood, where we learn about the world around us. The Twins teach us that we live in a dual world where there are two sides to everything.. Geminis are interesting, smart, and generally light-hearted as they skate along the surface of life. They are the intelligent communicators, writers, and net workers of the zodiac. They are the reporters, messengers, interpreters, and linguists. The Twins are able to take in many things at once and live in high awareness of their surroundings. Ruled by Mercury, they are quick thinkers and full of curiosity. And they love to talk.
Astrologer Deborah Houlding suggests “Gemini swings rapidly through the realms of conscious and unconscious and just as rapidly swings back again. ” Yes, The Twins are moodier than one might think. And while Mercury rules communication, he is also the god of liars and thieves. Dr. Jekyll has that other side: Mr. Hyde. And that little girl in the nursery rhyme with the curl in the middle of her forehead must have been a Gemini. Remember: “When she was good, she was very, very good, and when she was bad she was horrid. ”
Gemini is the most youthful of the signs. The Gemini man is synonymous with Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up. Responsibility is a dirty word to the Twins, who want to play first in this sandbox and then in that one. They are scared of commitment, often having one foot out the proverbial door.
Humor lives in Gemini as well as cruelty. This makes sense when you think that humor often involves laughing at other people’s weaknesses and mistakes—that slipping on the banana peel thing. The positive Gemini humor is the interesting turn of phrase, the unexpected and original use of words. Those who wear black and white uniforms—nuns and policemen, for instance– are good examples of duality in action. The good cop/ bad cop team has become a stereotype and who hasn’t known a saintly nun and a wicked one.
Besides the worlds of knowledge and communication, Gemini also rules brothers and sisters. People with communication issues or writers’ block might look to open channels with siblings. And Gemini rules short distance journeys. Coming and going: another aspect of the Twins. Geminis love chit-chat, learning, noticing, news, maps, telephones, and cars. Hating boredom, routine is death to a Gemini.
The Gemini areas of the body are the upper respiratory system, shoulders, arms, and lungs. Too much responsibility makes Gemini’s shoulders ache; not enough breathing room gives Gemini a cough. Being around irritating people gives Gemini a sinus infection. Gemini also has a strong connection with the senses, our first learning tools, especially seeing and hearing, because this information comes through two eyes and two ears. Ear and eye problems are often from an unwillingness to hear or see the truth.
With Mercury going forward now and big Jupiter stationing on June 15th, good fortune increases. It’s time to make that new start you’ve been waiting for. Expect a jolt mid-month that could portend a leap forward or you could suddenly find yourself going in a different direction. Venus and Mars are still traveling together and are now in earthy and practical Taurus. They make an exact joining on June 21st and then a good aspect to trustworthy Saturn. These are good signs for a long-lasting and passionate marriage.
June 2nd is a favorable day for purchases and beautification. The afternoon of June 7th and all day June 8th are positive for fresh starts. The 9th and 10th are good days for getting things done, but communication could be foggy—you might not know whose words to trust—so stay home and get those tough jobs done you’ve been putting off. The 23rd and 24th (after 10:00 am) are favorable new beginning days. So is the 26th (after 11:00 am) and the 30th (before 3:00 pm). No surgeries the 6th, 7th, or 8th .
Astrologer Jeff Jawer says that the Sagittarius Full Moon on June 7th “rings the bell of the ongoing Saturn-Uranus opposition, heating up the conflict between the old and new. .. between the forces of order and reform. ” And how interesting that the peak of the Full Moon coincides with the Tibetan celebration of the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha. With Mercury making a difficult aspect to the powerful and hopeful conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune, astrologer Stephanie Austin suggests that “a little shift in how we think leads to a big change in our reality. ”
The New Cancer Moon on June 22nd is a Supermoon, assuring high tides and high emotions. The new moon is always a time of darkness and this new moon is opposed by Pluto, god of the underworld, increasing darkness. This is a time for meditation. The world is changing. We are all changing. Look inside and see what is true for you now.
