Aquarius

February 4, 2009

Aquarius, your sign is in high profile this year as big Jupiter has moved into your neighborhood. Look for good fortune as Jupiter blesses whatever it touches. This year you are likely to appreciate your friends and community more than ever. More than any other sign, Aquarius knows that all men are brothers and this year your awareness of the oneness principle will increase as mental walls that separate you from others fall. Jupiter also expands everything it touches so look for increase in humanitarian efforts, community and hi-technology—all Aquarian stuff.

How interesting that on Inauguration Day, Jupiter was already in early Aquarius, close to our new president’s Jupiter at 1 degree Aquarius. Barack will be in synch with the drive for independence born in the American people, and under his administration we can look for America to step forward and into the light in all humanitarian matters. The moon was in late Aquarius on July 4, 1776, so freedom and futuristic thinking is our destiny as a nation.

Neptune, the planet of illusion and disillusion, is moving to join our Aquarian moon by summer. We, and especially those Americans born in late Aquarius, already feel the effects as much we have held dear washes away. Neptune also rules water, so look for issues now like flooding or drought. Jupiter will join Neptune here as well so anything built on sand will crumble. Plans for the future based on selfishness will wash away. But for artists, musicians and makers of community and creative solutions that benefit all of us, a big green light shines for you as our world wobbles at the edge of the Age of Aquarius.

Many astrologers agree that the joining of Neptune and Uranus in 1992-3 marked the opening of the Age of Aquarius. This is the age of the brotherhood of man. Aquarius teaches human equality: the Water Bearer pours his wisdom for all. Aquarius honors individuality and inventiveness, group endeavors, and technology. The beginning of Internet access to everyone occurred at this outer planetary conjunction an outer symbol of the leveling and flattening of the world. And how fun that www are the Aquarian ripples. These ripples that look like energy waves, also remind us that Aquarians are vibrating at a high rate.

The redefining of the position of Mary Magdalena (MM, more Aquarian ripples) at the turn of this century signals another balancing and equalizing: there will be a balancing of the sexes. New mythologies will arise now, and we won’t be basing our world on the Eve tempting Adam story which is at at the root of the belief system that places men higher than women. The Christ spirit can enter all men now. Many consider to be the real meaning of the Second Coming. Each year the Sun is in Aquarius between January 20th and February 18th. These are some of winter’s coldest days—giving Aquarians an icy detachment that keeps them high-minded and logical. These February days are also days of lengthening light in keeping with this sign’s association with hope and the future.

Many inventors (Thomas Edison), statesmen (Abraham Lincoln), revolutionaries (Angela Davis), and those dedicated to the common good (Oprah Winfrey and Eckhart Tolle) are Aquarians. Feminist Germaine Greer and futuristic authors Ayn Rand and Lewis Carroll are famous Water Bearers.

Shadow Aquarius is the know-it-all. An uglier shadow of the sign of Man is the traitor. Group depends on loyalty. Many, including the Italian poet Dante, consider betrayal the worst of all errors since it is a perversion of our highest faculty, our human intelligence. Dante placed Judas, Brutus, and other traitors in his lowest level of Hell.

Aquarius rules the nervous system of the body as well as the lower legs, ankles, and wrists. Boredom can bring on Restless Leg Syndrome in Aquarians, and high stress levels can cause more serious nerve damage. Relaxation is essential for the well-being of the Water Bearers. The best days for major purchases and new beginnings this month are February 3rd, 4th,, 17th,, and 27th, the 27th being the best of these days for a new start. No surgeries the 7th through the 10th, the days around the eclipsed Full Moon.

The Full Moon this month is in Leo on February 9th and is eclipsed. Neptune opposing this moon brings confusion and disillusionment. But since the moon is eclipsed, Neptune could wash away false dreams as well, leaving us with a more realistic outlook. Joining with like-minded friends is rewarded. Self-interest: (in the vernacular of our times), not so much. With Mars and Jupiter joining the Sun in Aquarius, at this full moon it is time to put aside our superficial differences and honor our living oneness. We are reminded in Aquarius, the third and final air sign, the sign of high intelligence, that we all breathe the same air. The Sun moves into dreamy Pisces on February 18th and the Moon joins on the 24th. This, the most spiritual of all New Moons, is a call to humility and steadfastness of faith. As astrologer Jeff Jawer reminds us: “Pisces is not a place to find material certainty and absolute control. Its gift is the faith that connects us to a loving universe and provides a sense of belonging and security, even under the most chaotic conditions. ”

Jupiter is not always a benefactor, its impact depends on the general configuration of the individual chart.

Got something to say?
