Trying to Draw the Line: The Mexican Boundary Survey, Part 2

Last month we began to tell the story of the first boundary survey conducted after the Mexican War and the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848. This month we will bring it up to the decision to purchase more land from Mexico.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius, fast and fiery, is the happiest and luckiest sign of the zodiac. Unlikely Heroes

There is a clerk in a convenience store in Tucson who used to believe that I was homeless.
I can see now that there was no other possible assumption he could make. After all, it was 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve; I came in wearing old jeans which were torn at the knee and a baggy brown sweater much too large for me. You could say I had failed once again to Dress For Success.

It’s pretty amazing the things that go through your mind when you’re looking down the barrel of a gun. Nothing really seems rational. It’s like you know this is the end and you can’t quite accept that so you think of things that are mundane.
